Finally Something Interesting: Tea Party Plans Lincoln-Douglas Debate between Cain and Gingrich Pinecone October 24, 2011 Rebel Pundit 1 Comment Tired of the same esoteric questions, stock answers, and petty squabbling at recent presidential debates? So are we. And so were some Tea Party members in Texas, who are seeking to shake things up next month, according to a report from National Review’s The Corner. Tea Party favorite Herman Cain and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich have agreed to use the Lincoln-Douglas format for a Tea Party-sponsored debate in November of this year. The meeting, which will take place in Texas, will allow for a more thorough examination of the philosophies behind their positions. Herman Cain, who has been criticized by some as being glib in his responses, will have the opportunity to talk in-depth about the economics behind his 9-9-9 plan, and other platform elements. Newt Gingrich, a former history professor who has stood out in recent debates for his depth of knowledge and references to history, should add to the interest. The question remains, which television network (if any) will host the event. Perhaps it’s time to continue the revolution, and think beyond the networks too?
