Durbin slams Tea Party, rallies local Dems – Galesburg, IL – The Register-Mail rebelpundit October 17, 2010 News Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill., gave a rousing speech to local Democrats on Saturday, urging them to rally behind Congressman Phil Hare, D-Rock Island, as he faces a stiff challenge from Republican candidate Bobby Schilling. Durbin spoke to a crowd of about 60 Democrats and union members at the Labor Temple on Grand Avenue. He was introduced to the audience by Mayor Sal Garza. Most of the local Democratic candidates in the Nov. 2 election also were in attendance.
