In a phone interview with Roland Martin of NewsOne, Fist Lady Michelle Obama not only reinforced racial stereotypes about African Americans (fried chicken), but urged them not to ‘listen to what people are saying’ and to vote for Democrats. Because they are Democrats:

That’s my message to voters. This isn’t about Barack. It’s not about the person on the ballot. It’s about you. And for most of the people we’re talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket we should be voting on regardless of who said what or who did this. That shouldn’t even come into the equation.

… This isn’t about the candidate.

She also gave all voters permission to eat fried chicken.

Absolutely. I give everyone full permission to eat some fried chicken after they vote. Only after, if you haven’t voted… You make a good point. Because I am, I do talk about health. But I think that a good victory for Democrats on Tuesday, you know, should be rewarded with some fried chicken.

It seems to be more than a coincidence that Michelle Obama’s comments came right on the heels of the overwhelming response received in the community about RebelPundit’s blockbuster video, which is approaching 900,000 views. In the video, black activists in Chicago destroyed the Democrat leadership in their communities and questioned why they ought to continue voting for Barack Obama’s party.

How many of us went “Popeyed” after hearing this puerile, condescending comment? Hope this pick- of-the-chick gaffe will get her butt in a super-size sling. Let’s hear you sing her praises for THIS one, MSM folks!

I say blacks should a) vote 3rd Party (which is what I typically do) b) create our own 3rd Party. The Dems & GOP are both corrupt and controlled by campaign donors.

Are you kidding me? Eat fried chicken? If a Republican EVER said anything as racist as that it would become the top story 24/7 for the next two years.

I don’t know about you but I’m not voting for anyone who has voted with Obama more than 90% of the time–and that is just about every Democrat incumbent. What has Obama done for the African American community? Did he get you good paying jobs? Heck no, black unemployment is more than double the national unemployment rate (which is inaccurate as the national unemployment rate doesn’t count the millions who no longer get unemployment compensation or the millions that gave up because there are no jobs–they’ve all be taken by illegals, Obama’s new best friends.)

I’m OK with what she said, at least with respect to deciding on whether or not to get all bent out of shape about her comments reflecting racist condescension. (Wow! Did I spell ‘condescension’ right? Either spell check is on holiday or my Age Appropriate Brain Atrophy isn’t the debility I was fearing it to be!). Stereotyping is lame, no doubt, but if there was one small alteration in our public discourse that would give me some hope for this country getting its disparate factions back on the same page and finally discussing the weighty issues thereon, it would be to let things like this ‘fried chicken’ comment pass.

Racism is a major issue; we’ll never get to dealing with it if we’re all on hyper-alert for its every least expression in those with whom we disagree. All we’ll end up doing is self-righteously playing whack-a-mole with each other while the country goes down the plug hole because of ideological sabotage.

The reason Democrats work this rhetorical motherlode is that it keeps natural allies from seeing their common ground. Me, an old white guy from Western Maine, I have such empathy and affection for the Four Chicago Activists and for many of their fellow Black American citizens who have commented in various levels of support for them. Democrats must do everything they can to make sure conservatives and struggling inner city folks never get into an honest conversation about Life, the Universe and Everything. Locking us up in separate, warring political parties, stoking our mutual paranoia about one another’s intentions, pouncing on any turn of phrase that can be made to serve as an offense: these are the Democrat Party’s tools of class and racial warfare that I want to put down, that I will put down.

Freed from leftist rant and ruin, I believe a core of Americans have the wherewithal to deal with not only overt racism but even the stain of it that lingers in the kindest of hearts.

My America won’t prosper and thrive unless our America does. Democrats know this and fight tooth and nail to obscure this simple truth from as many voters as they can.

Michelle is a typical elitist. She just knows what’s better for all of us “folks.” She cares about us and seems to know all the answers. The fact that she never really helps us and sometimes makes things worse for us doesn’t matter to her. She just feels good about herself because “she cares.” Real solutions don’t matter if you “feel” like you are a good person.
