If a government agency says so, it’s a fact, well maybe

In Thursday night’s debate Vice President Biden blamed the intelligence community for the Obama administration’s false response to the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack. It was startling that a few minutes later he was putting so much trust in the intelligence community’s assessment of Iran’s nuclear progress. Particularly troubling given the Libyan attack occurred in public and was on video and the Iranians have gone to great lengths to conceal their nuclear program.

Skepticism of the intelligence community’s assessments seems prudent given George Tenet’s “It’s a slam dunk” reference to the presence of WMDs in Iraq. Oh, but he served a Republican president; yes but appointed by Clinton.

Confidence in a government agency’s assessment of events is not enhanced when the Defense Department now classifies Maj. Hassan’s murder of 13 and wounding of 29 at Fort Hood while shouting “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for God is Great) as a case of “workplace violence.”

Miraculously in time for the elections another government agency the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that the unemployment rate declined to 7.8% in September when only 114k new jobs were created. The markets were dubious.

Continuing the good news parade, the BLS reported new unemployment claims last week were at a four year low and the news was devotedly trumpeted by the media. However, the media didn’t report the caveat that California’s numbers were not included in the statistic. Also not reported was Obama contributors at the BLS.

It is no wonder that polls show trust in government and the media are at all time lows.

Have a fulfilling and profitable day,

Democrats do not define truth and reality as normal persons do. For them, reality is socially constructed. It is an act of the Will rather than a product of discovery. So, what a Democrat says is true, by definition. A Democrat cannot lie. Conversely, Republicans always lie, if they disagree with a Democrat.
