WLS is on top of the Chicago mob violence (twitter hashtag #ChicagoMobs) story again. Last night in downtown Chicago there was another mob of thug teens. Fortunately this time police caught one of these thugs with a loaded gun and arrested him. It is against the law for a law abiding respectable Chicagoan to carry a firearm in Chicago, despite the ongoing safety concerns.

CHICAGO (STMW) – Chicago Police are crediting the “diligence” of a commander for approaching a large group of teens outside Water Tower Place Monday night, leading to the arrest of a man who had a loaded handgun.

Dimitri Stephen, 19, of the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue, is charged with two felony counts — unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the incident, police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.

Near North District police Sgt. Kenneth Angarone was deploying his officers on foot patrol about 6:45 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue when he noticed a big group of teens leaving Water Tower Place, Ursitti said.

He was aware of recent robberies in the area and walked toward the group. A man in the group, identified as Stephen, fled and as he fled, discarded a weapon, Ursitti said.
